My Journey:
From Architecture to Somatic Healing

I have always been deeply curious about healing and what lies beneath the surface, those deep emotions we feel but struggle to put into words. Over the years, I actively explored traditional talk therapy and yoga as pathways to wellness.

For a long time, I balanced this personal interest with a demanding, 30 year career as an architect.. From the outside, it looked like a fulfilling, high-achieving life. However, the long hours, relentless pressure, and strict deadlines took a heavy toll. I did not just get tired, I burnt out twice, and eventually my body simply stopped functioning.

This baseline of chronic, physical exhaustion was then compounded by a period of deep, shattering grief. Within a seven-year window, I faced the devastating loss of three of my closest family members: my sister, my brother, and my father.

Suddenly, my career burnout and overwhelming bereavement collided.

If you have experienced deep grief, you know the feeling. Your reality is forever altered, and your body feels like it can no longer hold you up. It took something truly monumental to happen for me to finally start listening to my body. I realised then that our modern working world is excellent at demanding professional excellence, but completely fails to support the human beings behind the achievements.

Trapped in this painful cycle, I returned to talk therapy, and dug deeper into yoga as that was what I knew, but a huge disconnect remained. The practices that I had relied on for years to stay well simply weren't working anymore.

  • Talk therapy kept me stuck in my head, cognitively aware but unable to release trauma.

  • Yoga practice stayed isolated in my body as pure physical movement.

Because these two worlds never integrated, they could not support the weight of what I was carrying.

My turning point came when I discovered somatic work and nervous system regulation and healing. This was the missing bridge. It allowed me to safely unpack and release decades of accumulated stress, burnout, and grief. This life-changing shift inspired me to transition away from architecture to become a trauma-informed somatic therapist.

About My Practice

Today, my therapeutic approach is shaped by deep training, my professional background, and nearly two decades of experience teaching yoga in London. Through years of working closely with people as well as my own experiences, I have learned that the body holds onto the stories, stresses, and hurts that the mind struggles to put into words.

At Soul Soma Therapy, we honour the vital connection between your mind and your body. Because no two nervous systems process stress, trauma, or grief the same way, I do not bring a rigid checklist to our sessions. Instead, our work follows an intentional, collaborative, and purposeful framework:

  • Slowing Down: We establish a true foundation of safety so your nervous system can finally downregulate, let go of survival mode, and find its natural footing.

  • Present Moment Awareness: We pay close attention to what is happening in the body right now, shifting away from overthinking and allowing a new path of healing to unfold.

  • Gentle Exploration: Together, we tune into the subtle physical sensations—like tension, tightness, numbness, or a racing heart—that you may have learned to ignore just to get through the day.

Depending on what your body needs in each moment, our time together might look like talking through your thoughts, exploring gentle movement, or safely holding space for a difficult feeling for just a few moments longer than normal. This structured, compassionate exploration is precisely where true integration, deep healing, and lasting resolution begin.

I am a fully insured and qualified Trauma-Informed Somatic Therapist, Yoga Teacher, and Loss and Bereavement Practitioner, and I am an accredited member of the ACCPH.
